Back To University

I hate when the weather is doing that stupid inbetweeny crap when it can't decide if it wants to start summer yet or stay in winter. It makes deciding what to wear so difficult! There's definitely a big trend for floral this spring, as with every spring. But a massive emphasise on wearing full prints. On everything! I'll save you too much flower power this time and suggest a few outfits for back to uni/college which ever institution of learning you'll be heading to!

I'm thinking of treating myself to some new jeans, I love the china print on these! And of course white jumpers are always in style so that too is on the list. I never took a second look at peplum tops other than to think what kind of weird throw back fashion trend is this? But I love the grey material here so I thought I'd just give it a go. No wonder peplums are such a big thing, the fit is amazing. Which means I can go for a big meal and get away with a pot bloated belly, hehehe! Also notice how I somehow manage to look exactly the same in both photos... weird.

What do you think of the looks? Tweet me what your wearing back to work/uni this spring and I'll add you photo below! @ericahenderson

Polyvore

I just discovered Polyvore, I love it! It's great to put together outfits that inspire you and things you want to buy.. when you can't. Fashion is my guilty pleasure simply because I shop way to much and I already have too many clothes, shoes and bags. But this is just dreaming for me.. until I have a great paying job. Then I can get what ever I want!

Charity Find and Super Short!

As you all know, I love a bit of Charity shopping. I found this gorgeous grunge knit jumper from Wallis for £4.75. I was going to buy one from Republic last month at £45! This is just an outfit that was really comfy and actually very warm.. since the weather has decided to start snowing! Plus it was really snuggly for my exam, urgh. But to brighten up the day I had a few vouchers to spend on the high-street and I found the shortest, well what I think was a skirt! What do you think it is?

Gorgeous faux fur, mini mini - H&M
( I did not buy this skirt. It wouldn't even work as pants for me. A belt maybe?)

Jumper - Wallis/ Jeans - Primark/ Boots - Zara/ Coat - Superdry
Scarf - Dorothy Perkins

Also here's a bunch of pictures of me being awkward.. I'll get used to these outfit posts one day! What do you think? This outfit works a lot better with the scarf to add a bit more colour.

Spikes on Boots

Thought I'd share my new boots with you. They were £10 in Primark which I think is beyond reasonable, the quality isn't amazing. But its pretty good for the price. I've been wanting some studded things for a while as you probably could tell from all my posts. Kind of spammed studs and spikes! But I love it so much, the suede material makes it slightly less in your face I think.

Would love the buy these jeans and t, but too much spending! Do you like this? After wearing them on a stormy day, its safe to say these are dry day shoes. Soggy feet are the worst, damn.
Until next time xo

Aztec In Autumn

I don't know about you, but for me layering clothes is really difficult. I can never seem to get warm enough without looking like the Michelin man! In a lot of magazines recently, layering up summer dresses is a new trend. It looks very girly but very cosy and warm too. Take 1 summer dress, Add 1 pair of leggings and 1 scarf. If needed also add gloves and leg warmers. Take 1 pair of boots and go. I took some prints to add some interest leopard and aztec, never thought they'd go together but I like it.

What do you think? Too much or just right? No jewellery today, to tone it down! Another big statement for Autumn, well this whole year, Aztec and now Aztec boots. They are literally everywhere. I've seen them on other blogs, adverts, high street, designer, celebrities. Usually for a hefty sum too, but mine were just £25! Bargain and I love them. The heel has a large base which makes walking so comfy instead of punishing my toes.

Cape Town

Theres Duffle, Leather, Tweed, Blazers and now cape. This autumn's must have. Nearly every high street you walk down or designer label has their own range. Personally the designer range is well out of my pockets reach, but heres how to do it on a budget. The gorgeous, girly float or the stand out, edgy cape.

Asos
Love Clothing/ Next/ River Island
What do you prefer? I've always gone with high street, not sure whether its my pocket or my taste. But I think the cheaper versions have more edge and personality, where as some designer items are just trying to fit into a certain genre? But then again you get what you pay for in most cases, if you want quality and a product that will last.. its always going to cost a little more!

MyriadVintage Giveaway

I have found a gorgeous Vintage boutique on Etsy. MyriadVintage. Very understated and very vintage!  I got in touch with the owner and to say thank you to my readers heres a give away! Ashley was kind enough to give to one of you luckies a gorgeous colour block maxi skirt. I might even try to enter myself, hahaha. I managed to grab a few extra minutes with Ashley for a short interview, heres what I found out!

Me: How did you get into Vintage fashion?
Ashley: Growing up my mom always took me along on her thrifting trips. I would pick items to wear and would tweak the ones I didn't like by light sewing. Over the years I have found some cool pieces and decided to make a business of it. In my city, vintage wear is nearly equal to normal retail.

Me: I love changing things to my personal taste! Where do you find inspiration for your items?
Ashley: Honestly, I use my personal taste for guidance. I look for pops of color, bold prints and texture. Anything that stands out on the rack at a quick glance. If I have to dig too hard, it is not for me! Most of my items are 1980s - early 90's.

Me: Such an iconic era. Are there any fashion icons you follow for ideas?
Ashley: There are many greats of the era, with unique and bold style but, I try to make sure I don't put myself in a box. For example Madonna's edgy and sometimes quirky style, love it!! But my pieces may or may not reflect this.

Me: Madonna is definitely a walking fashion statement! What do you believe makes a quality article of clothing?
Ashley: A quality article of clothing should not be damaged, stained, or worn beyond reasonable wear with consideration to the year. Essentially items should look as good as they did, when they were first made. Not all items are perfect, and for this reason I make not of imperfections on my listings. Not every customer is a perfectionist but, honesty and respect go a long way!!

Me: They do say honesty is always the best policy. What garments can we expect for A/W from MyriadVintage?
Ashley: I always go in search of certain categories of items, but tend to list as I find. I am looking to add more sequinned and beaded items, sweaters and blazers. Over the weekend some updates were made :)

Me: Can't wait to see you gems you'll find! How would you sum up MyriadVintage as a brand?
Ashley: All inclusive women's vintage clothing and accessories. One of a kind finds, that foster creativity and uniqueness. All things vintage!

If you can't wait for the end of the competition you can buy an item now, here. Don't forget they're all vintage - here today, gone tomorrow! *Update - use code MVINTAGE for 10% off*

Travellers Chant

My outfit for the day, travelling. I hate being uncomfortable when travelling, especially since the journey was 3 hours long. I just wore some loose fitting denim, an over sized wool tunic, which is really soft and snuggly. A blazer so I don't look too slouchy, then added some colour with the gold choker, scarf and nails.

Choker - gift/ Boots - gift

Jeans - River Island/ Scarf - Peacocks/ Tunic - USC/ Blazer  - River Island

Nails - Hot looks shimmy shake

I look so scared in those photos, haha! What do you think of this outfit? I love this nail polish, it needs a couple coats to get a really bold look but its so glittery and dries relatively quickly which is awesome when your in a rush. Until next time xo

Hobos, deliciously different

First day back at uni and the longest day ever, 9-6! Plus all the commuting, so much effort! To brighten up the day we took a lunch break into Cardiff town centre, in search of some original vintage. Oh yes.

I've walked past Hobos, so many times and never thought to go in. Until today. My god have I been missing out! It's amazing, there are so many knit jumpers with so many different designs it crazy! It was like winter heaven! I wanted to come back and get it, but the owner told me they're all one of a kind! Even better, no awkward we're wearing the same thing.

I really hope my favourite is still there when I go back! .....Oh and one more thing I was expecting was a horrific price tag because of the gorgeous quality, somewhere in the region of £70-£80. Considering it was very soft, an original and simply so vintage. They were Granny's jumpers gone right. Me and my friend couldn't believe the price £18! Absolute bargain.
The owner was lovely and let me take some snaps.

The pictures unfortunately do not do the clothes justice. I'll be back to buy my winter warmer and I'll update some better pictures! Hobos goes live, you will soon be able to shop online: www.hobosvintageclothing.co.uk

Charity Shop Finds

My mum came home with this little gem from a local charity store yesterday, where she helps out once a week. It looks pretty plain and simple (but it was only £8!) so I wanted to add more attitude to it. Not only do you save a lot of money and recycle but most importantly, I love charity shops just because of the nature behind them. I'm helping someone, somewhere.

So here's what I did with it. Took me about 30 minutes. You just align the stud, push the prongs through and fold them over. I'm thinking off adding more studs to fill the whole of the pockets, what do you think? A tanned belt just to add more definition to my waist.

Friday the 5th of October is Jeans for Genes day - 'changing the world for children with genetic disorders'  Put it in your diary and don't forget to go help out!

DIY Galaxy Top

Galaxy clothes have been around a lot recently in the last year or so. But now they have hit the high street with impact. You can find loads of different types from Topshop, River Island, Asos. You name it they'll probably have a version. But you've probably seen they're pretty pricey. That swimsuit is £35!
If your an avid youtuber, you've seen loads of tutorials. You'll need 2 parts bleach to 1 part water and that's it! Here's mine:

I've seen cross prints and accessories everywhere too, so until pay day this is what I've come up with.
Wash this by hand before you wear it or you'll have some really sore skin. Wear gloves and do it outside unless you fancy a trip. Joking, do it outside!

Until next time xo

*edit* I've just finished washing my shirt, unlike many suggestions online my acrylic paint completely washed off! Your going to need some proper fabric paint. Or if you've got acrylic already you'll just need to add a base, which changes it chemically. So back to the shops tomorrow. pfffhht.

Gypsy Warrior

I joined instagram recently. I was really reluctant because I thought it just another social network bragging game and adding filters. But it's actually pretty good. You can connect with people around the world and it's not about what they have and are doing as such. Its more about just sharing pictures. Its nice I like it, anyway. I found that when you post a picture and hash tag it a lot businesses will like it or if you search a certain print or item it shows loads of unknown businesses out there!
This is PERFECT for when you need something not on the high street, something different. I've found so many, but my favourite so far ? Gypsy Warrior. If you haven't heard of them go check it out. They're a gorgeous fashion statement from New Jersey. Their stuff really stands out, its edgy and has a lot of attitude. I'm reluctant to share this on here because I want to keep this little gem all to myself, but mum taught me to share. Damn.
Here's my top picks!

It's really unlikely you'll get the awkward same outfit situation that I always talk about!
If anyones stuck on what they want to get me for Christmas, there's a list ^^.
Happy shopping people! x
