We love you, Yoghurt

I always thought yoghurt was a fattening treat and I never really trusted the 'fat-free' slogans. But I was wrong. Yoghurt is ( like Cauliflower) high in Calcium, a portion is one third of your daily intake! Why the sudden calcium obsession? Calcium inhibites the release of cortisol. Cortisol is a hormone which tells the body to produce more stomach fat. Wobble. Who is this Cortisol guy? Get out of here! So basically, eating calcium aids weightloss and even more so, belly weight! It's also a great post sweat session snack, eaten within an hour of your workout the proteins in yoghurt, aid repair. While the carbohydrates replenish energy stocks in the muscles. Ka-Ching! Along with all the Vitamins and good bacteria, yoghurt is a great weekly shopping basket staple.

Baileys And Nutella, Surprise Cake

I thought I'd do something nice for a friend, since I was working late on last weeks game. Grandslam! And I had no way of getting home, she kindly let me crash with her for the evening. (Did anyone else see the chaos that was a celebrating Cardiff city? It was brilliant and hectic!) Since her birthday was coming up and no one would be around due to Easter recess, I planned a little surprise for her and baked my first 2 tier cake. Proud moment. Haha.

They're Real.. Benefit

The lovely ladies from Benefit, sent us some products to try and review while at the Birmingham bloggers meet up. I was so sceptical when I got this. I've always thought that I have really teeny tiny lashes, no mascara's ever really enhance my lashes. Just make them look clumpy. My physics teacher once said they looked like little furry bumble bee legs.. Great.

My pathetic excuse for eyelashes, hahaha!

With - Without

But it goes to show you get what you pay for. At £18.50, I would never have considered this product. I only pay around that much for foundations and powders. But I will from now on! Those £5 mascaras literally get me no where. A shame really. What do you think? Long and curly aren't they!

Maison Blanc

Every time I walk past this shop window I fall in love. Little macaroons (which everyone keeps raving about), very delicate pastries and gorgeous looking cakes. The price is pretty up there and after a few days of indulging in the Cake Boss TV series, I really really wanted me some delicious bakes. But I was disappointed. When I get an impulse I'm sure my friends and family could tell you that theres no stopping me, even money is no boundary. I just go a bit crazy. And so I did. I spent £22 on these desserts, which with my student budget is probably why I was so disappointed. More to the point, I got there 1 minute before they closed and luckily they let me in, so I didn't really have many options to choose from at 6pm on a Friday night. But hey, I was there and had some major cravings. So I picked the prettiest looking and of course the infamous macaroons. (I did try to bake these before as so many bloggers have) Let me tell you. They may look great in pictures, but the truth is in the bite. They need to be crunchy on the outside and a viccy sponge texture in the middle. These were as such, but wow was it an almond overload. Very bitter and I didn't realise these were stuffed with some strange fillings. To say the least I don't like macaroons. As cute as you are little fellas, I wont be ordering any more. Although I must say they are beautifully packaged.

FIX by Neäl & Wolf

I got this gorgeous hair spray, FIX, from the Birmingham Blogger Meet Up last Saturday. I couldn't wait to get this one out and see if it really was going to do it's job!
"FIX is designed to give maximum long-lasting hold whilst intensifying shine. Spritz onto a finished style to create all-day hold with radiant shine." Ok Neäl & Wolf, lets see if this worked. I styled and finished with a sprinkle of FIX. Wow, the packaging is so romantic and indulgent. The product lives up to expectations. Normally, I find it so hard to get an all day hold because my hair is so thick and heavy. The curls normally drop beyond recognition. I admit it didn't quite last all day, but the longest hold I've found yet! I love the smell of this product too, it's very warm and just an added bonus. It's not teeming with chemicals, so you don't have to hold your breath, do a massive spray, run out of the room and cough the shit out of your lungs! It's quite the opposite actually, it's gentle and subtle. The spray itself isn't a continuos generic spray, it's pumped. I think this gives it more control which is great.

Primark Nail Foil Review

Primark is usually known for quantity over quality. Admittedly there are some gorgeous garments that are pretty sturdy and will last you a while, but the majority is just a quick fix. So I was wondering about the beauty range and how well the varnish would fair against the other more established brands. Please excuse the poor photos!

These are definitely just a one day thing. Maybe if your going out or for a special occasion. The quality for £1 is excellent, but day 2 and they've chipped slightly. I would advise painting a faint colour underneath just so it doesn't give it away quite as easily. Also the application instructions are very confusing. Initially I thought the straight edges were meant to be closest to my cuticles, took a few attempts to realise that wasn't quite right! When filing and trimming the edges you need to be very careful not to pull away the whole design! Also these would last a lot longer if you paint a clear top coat.
What do you think? A perfect stocking filler if the price wasn't printed on the packaging, shame.
